Each hairstyle listed highlights the risk and the comfort levels associated with it. Risk is determined by things that are negative, threatening, passive-aggressive, or culturally insensitive. These risks have mental, physical, and financial side effects. For example, going to an interview with natural hair professionally maintained could still appear unprofessional to those who generally or subconsciously view Black hairstyles as inferior.

Comfort

Comfort refers to how the hairstyle is worn. Different factors like installation pain, general discomfort throughout the duration of the style, and the effects the hairstyle has on natural hair are considered to determine the overall comfort level.
